The Diary of My Inner Fat Kid

Everyone who has ever been fat, past or present, has an inner fat kid. That voice that tells you to get that second (or fifth) cookie. The one that wants to eat a burger for both lunch and dinner. Do you want whipped cream on that Frap? Yes, please.

This is the diary of my inner fat kid. On January 1, 2011, I began a new journey to get fit. Contrary to what this may appear to be, this was not a New Year's Resolution by any means. The fact that I started on January 1st was merely a coincidence. As it so turns out, the reason I started on January 1st is because it was the beginning on a new quarter at work, which is when a lot of new projects kick off, so I decided to add this to the list.

The last 6 months have certainly been a struggle that I'll elaborate on at some point in the future. I began the year at 180.6 pounds. At the end of the first 3 months, I was down to 174.0 pounds. At the end of the second 3 months, I'm now at 172.0 pounds. While it looks like I've been using weight as the overall metric of success, the real goal here is not to lose weight, but to be more fit. Being fit is somewhat of a loosely-defined goal, but for me it includes something along the lines of being able to run more than a mile at a time and being able to fit into my old clothes.
